Water Treatment Operator Exam Review

Sadly, this is the face of MOST. Fortunately, looks aren’t everything.

Are you taking the Water Treatment Operator certification exam in California on November 21?  If so, are you ready for it?  What is the best way for you to prepare?  As usual, MOST is the answer.  There is no better resource to prepare for the State exams than MOST.

First, we have our MOST practice exams.  These are free to MOST subscribers.  And becoming a MOST subscriber is also free.  Just go to our home page and enter your email address in the “Subscribe to Updates” box.

Next, we have our online MOST courses.  They are only $10 each, and available right now.  You can view these courses as many times as you wish for a full year after purchase — an especially helpful feature if you’re getting ready for the State exam.  In addition, the California State Water Resources Control Board has approved every MOST course for one contact hour of credit toward the renewal of your current certification.

If you don’t need contact hour credit, you might prefer the MOST courses in a DVD format.  We offer two sets of MOST courses in this format: first, all nine Water Math courses for $50; and our entire collection of 24 MOST courses on a single DVD for $120 — only $5 per course.  If you’re interested, just click on the “Contact” link on our home page to let us know, and then we’ll send you the ordering information.

Finally, we are teaching a one-day Water Treatment Operator certification exam review course (for all grades) on Friday, November 6, for Santiago Canyon College.  If you enroll now for Water 056, you will have immediate access to MOST of the MOST videos and practice exams on the SCC Blackboard web site — you don’t need to wait until November 6.  And the best part is, this course costs less than $10 if you’re already an SCC student.  (It’s another $20 to enroll at SCC.)  See:

We have the MOST ways for you to prepare for the Water Treatment Operator certification exam.  Let MOST help you pass the first time!

was interested in the level 4 MOST practice exams

  3. avatar Dan says:

Ok, thanks. There should be a review of the wrong answers on the exams after operators take them. ABC gives a broad view but no question review that are missed. This should be changed

How important do you think the Flash Mixing is for Ferric Chloride when using a ACTIFLO System?

    • avatar Steve McLean says:

Dan: I’m no expert on the ACTIFLOW system, but the chemistry of coagulation HAS to be the same as in a conventional process. And that means that mixing is CRITICAL. Every pathogen is colloidal in size, and the sedimentation and filtration processes that would follow an ACTIFLOW process are not effective at colloidal particle removal. The purpose of coagulation and flocculation — and ACTIFLOW, for that matter — is to convert colloidal particles into larger, suspended particles. And these larger particles CAN be removed by sedimentation and filtration. But the process of transforming colloidal particles into suspended ones requires two things: first, a change in colloidal surface chemistry, and second, collisions among these “destabilized” colloidal particles. And these are two very different kinds of mixing. BOTH are absolutely critical to process success! The Flash Mix term is usually used in reference to the first of these two mixing processes. It is here that our primary coagulant — ferric chloride in your case — must come into direct physical contact with the surface of each colloidal particle.

      Hi John:
Just clearing out old emails and I came across yours. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
I have practice exams for D1-D2 exams, D3-D4 exams, T1-T2 exams, and T3-T4 exams. Which one(s) would you like?
I give the practice exams away for free, but I hope you will come back to MOST for your exam preparation. You can view our MOST videos online for $10 for each 1-hour video (and replay it as many times as you like for a full year), or you can purchase all of our MOST videos as well as another 20+ from my college lectures. You get more than 50 hours of video lectures from a 40-year Water professional (T5/D3/P.E.) on a single DVD for $120. We cover everything you need to know to pass the State exams.
