Friday of this week is a very important deadline for those of you seeking certification as a Water Distribution Operator here in California. Your application for the September 17 exam must be postmarked by July 1. Here is the State Water Resources Control Board web site, where you can find the very simple, two-page application form:
Click on Distribution Exam Application and get it done!
And if you’re taking the exam on September 17, your humble MOST proprietor will be the instructor for Water 057 at Santiago Canyon College. This course is a one-day (8 contact hour) classroom session on September 9 at our campus in Orange. But the course will have a web site that is available to everyone enrolled at the beginning of the semester on August 22. And that web site will feature a few hundred sample exam problems and answers, a practice exam with answer key, and many, many of the MOST videos and other videos from our courses at SCC.
We know that many of you can’t make it to Orange on a Friday in September. With that in mind, we can give you credit for the course even if you don’t attend. You will need to work for it, though! The “Blackboard” system that we use to host our online courses at SCC keeps track of how much time you spend on the web site. If you spend at least 8 hours on the site AND complete the online exam for the course — both PRIOR to our in-class session on September 9 — we can award you credit for the course without requiring your attendance.
