Today is the anniversary of the attack by the Empire of Japan on Pearl Harbor. Until 9/11, it was the deadliest attack on American soil, with over 2400 lives lost. Also lost were four battleships, including the subject of today’s photo, the Arizona.
Unlike the other ships, the Arizona was never removed or salvaged. To this day, it eerily leaks oil into the Harbor, looking very much like an eternally bleeding wound. Visiting this memorial was one of the most sobering experiences of my life.
I had another sobering experience this past week: the loss of my mother. That has kept me away from this blog for a while. I trust you all understand.
I have a couple of posts coming soon on the water supply for California and a look at toxic-yet-vital substances. So stick with me, please!
As always, whenever I’m away you can click through the archives for posts you may have missed. And clicking on our sponsors is always appreciated.
