Who Should Get the Water?

Today’s photo is of Lake Oroville, taken about one year ago. The current storage is very similar to this level. It is also improving slightly, thanks to some welcome storms late in the season. Despite the improvements, it will still be a very lean water year. May 1 is a very important date — that’s normally when we get the final allocation numbers from the Department of Water Resources. Stay tuned!
The link above is to a video from the California Latino Water Coalition. (Thank you, Bill.) It gives an interesting perspective on water allocation in this state. Of political interest is that this pits two traditionally Democratic blocs — Latinos and Environmentalists — firmly in opposition to one another. There may be hope for a reasonable answer to California’s water problems after all!
Have a nice weekend!
